Director General of Space Systems International Monaco
Trophy presented by Axel Hoppenot (Marketing Director Monte-
Carlo SBM) and Thomas Battaglione (DG SMEG)
Established in 2004, SSI is a telecommunications service pro-
vider. In 2010 the company signed a concession agreement
to operate radio frequencies at the orbital aerospace location
of Monaco (52°Est). 2015 marksthe realization of this project
conducted with the cooperation of the Principality: the satellite
TurkmenAlem52E/Monaco SAT was launched from Cape
Canaveral onApril 27. Operational since June 10, it covers a zone
that goes from central Asia to North Africa. At present it is the
most powerful satellite in Europe, its ground footprint covering
1.6 billion people, and it makes it possible to link regions where
there is no land-based telecommunication. A second satellite is
planned for within three to four years in the same orbital posi-
tion to cover China, India and Southern Africa. In the future
SSI wishes to continue its strong start and is considering a third
project of this kind in Europe and Latin America.

gate of SONEMA
Trophy presented by Michel Prost-Dumont (Corporate Director
BPCA Monaco
Since 1985 Sonema has been going where land telecommuni-
cations are inexistent. The company provides VSAT terminals
(micro terminals for satellite connections) made to measure
on a global scale, for large companies located in regions where
there is no other means of communication. With close to 600
plants in 47 countries mainly in Africa, Sonima provides secure
quality service essential for banking, mining, the energy sector
(oil and gas), and the industrial sector. Sonima has acquired two
sites, one in the Paris region and one in Frejus, to install its own
teleports (locations where the telecommunications arrive and
leave from). In a highly competitive market, the company aims
to continue to grow internally by diversifying its IT hosting and
IT security services, while at the same time continuing to gain
markets in Africa and even Asia.
MADE IN MONACO: Sandro ARABIAN and Pascal
MOUCHET, delegate Presidents of ProTechMonte-Carlo
Trophy presented by Christophe Pinault (President Director of Caisse
d’Epargne Cote d’Azur).
Since 1989, through its network of over 40 automobile aes-
thetic services, ProTech has been exporting its know-how and
Monegasque expertise in the field. In this way the Spa products
for cars, designed and developed in Monaco, are used and sold
in all the ProTech Monte-Carlo centers throughout the world:
in France and Belgium, the Netherlands, the Middle East and
Far East and in China. Thanks to the process developed in
the Principality, the Laser Wash makes it possible to wash the
bodywork without a single drop of water and with no risk of
scratching. The 600.000 vehicles washed in this way have saved
more than a million and a half cubic meters of water. With a
turnover of 25million Euros the company hopes to become the
leader in the field and to conquer markets in the United States,
Latin America and Canada.
INNOVATION: Stanislas BOULETD’AURIA, President,
Managing Director of 3X Engineering
Tropy presented by Etienne Franzi, President of Monaco Telecom
3X Engineering is a company that specializes in the rehabilita-
tion of industrial devices, metal structures for building, offshore
platforms and pipelines. It is the only company in the world able
to stop pressurized leaks
offshore and onshore by using composite materials such as
Kevlar that 3XEngineering develops in its laboratory inMonaco.
It was by going into difficult countries where there was not much
competition, such asCameroon, theCongo, Angola andNigeria,
that 3X Engineering was able to make itself known. Since it was
established in 1987 by Stanislas Boulet d’Auria, a research and
development engineer, the company has experienced massive
annual growth of 25%, going froma turnover of €15,000 in 2001
to 4millionEuros in2014. Research anddevelopment accounted
for 15% of the budget. Currently 3X Engineering is breaking
ground in its so-called intelligent activities: a pipeline is fragile
and dangerous and can explode, so the operations are conducted
by satellite. With the unprecedented economic crisis faced by oil
companies, the current trend is towards the maintenance and
repair of existing facilities. A boon for 3X Engineering.
